Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about whole-house filtration, reverse osmosis, installation and ongoing servicing.
Whole-House Filtration
The PureTap three-stage system is installed where water enters the property, so filtered water travels to your kitchen, showers, bathrooms, laundry and appliances rather than a single outlet.
Stage 1 is sediment filtration with three-layer technology and up to 1-micron accuracy. Stage 2 combines KDF 55 and KDF 85 with natural coconut carbon for heavy-metal reduction and taste improvement. Stage 3 combines limescale-reduction media with natural coconut carbon.
The system uses full-size 20" × 4.5" housings and is designed for an operating flow of 50–60 L/min, which suits normal household water demand.
Reverse Osmosis
Reverse osmosis is optional and focuses on drinking water at the kitchen sink. It adds stages 4, 5 and 6 — an RO membrane, T33 post carbon and a mineralisation and alkalisation cartridge.
It is designed to reduce PFAS, fluoride, total dissolved solids, radium and barium. Performance varies with incoming water conditions and filter condition.
The final cartridge is designed to reintroduce selected minerals and adjust water characteristics following reverse osmosis, using Maifan stone, mineral media, alkaline media and antibacterial media.
Installation
PureTap systems are professionally installed. System configuration, mounting position and connection to the incoming supply are tailored to the property.
Typically on an external wall near the incoming water supply. Cabinet dimensions are 74 × 59 × 21 cm, and the position is confirmed during your free water check.
Maintenance
Whole-house stages 1, 2 and 3 have a recommended replacement interval of 12 months, with maximum intervals of up to 18 months depending on conditions. For reverse osmosis, the membrane is 24 months and stages 5 and 6 are 12 months.
Yes. Ongoing PureTap filter support means we supply replacements and can arrange servicing when stages are due.
Water Quality
Reduction figures are based on laboratory tests using specific water formulations. Actual performance varies with incoming water conditions and filter condition, and results are not presented as guarantees.
Fluoride reduction is not part of the standard three-stage whole-house system. Fluoride reduction is associated with the reverse osmosis membrane on the drinking-water system.
